“Well, not the ones that bite the heads of chickens or anything too weird,” Elly explained, chuckling along with Hannah. The odd turn their conversation had taken reminded Elly of when she would sneak out to the woods with her friends and smoke pot. “Dr. Who is the name of a show on the tele,” she explained. “Do you know what a tele is?”
Elly nodded. “I know who she is. I don’t know her well or anything.” She didn’t need Hannah to tell her that things had been awkward between her and Susan, Hannah’s tone certainly gave that away.
Smiling, Elly wasn’t sure what Hannah had meant. Did she mean that her and Susan had each found new people to hang out with? Or did she mean that Elly and Hannah had found each other to hang out with? Unsure how to respond, she nodded with a happy smile. Elly would figure out what she meant later to be sure.
Done her cigarette, she took her wand and vanished the remains into oblivion again. She moved to sit on a rock at the water’s edge. “Well, I am sure I will see you around then. Do you know anyone else who is staying over the holiday?”
Elly nodded. Hannah had mentioned Susan again. It seemed that the other girl was really bothered by the falling out they’d had. “Well, I tend to do my work in my room and try to get it done as fast as a possibly can.” Her rush certainly showed in her marks and not in a good way.
