“Oh,” Lavender sighed. “Sorry. I hope it wasn’t too bad of a break up.” She gave Fleur a slightly twisted smile. It didn’t hurt her feelings to learn that the sultry, young Professor was single. Though, she didn’t like the idea that she might be hurt by what had transpired.
Lavender’s brow furrowed slightly, not really sure what Fleur had meant by that. Having no idea about Fleur’s lineage, specially her Veela grandmother, the comment didn’t make much sense. She simply shrugged.
“Merci,” Lavender responded, a bit bolder due to the compliment. Lavender loved compliments. Her brow furrowed for a moment as she tried to think how to say something. “Ma mère m'a eu modèle un peu. Ce peut être amusement,” she explained, in passable French.
“You should try it. Like I said, it can be fun,” Lavender said. “Besides, you are prettier than any model I’ve ever seen.” The words had slipped out before she thought them through. Though, feeling a little more comfortable, Lavender didn’t become bashful after she said it.
“My hips are too slim,” Lavender said with a shrug. She looked down at them and put her hands on her hips.
“I’m glad,” Lavender admitted with a big smile. “We are all happy you are here. You’ve been a great teacher so far.” And so much hotter than old Flitwick, she thought with a wry smile.
Her heart beat faster at the word “proposition”. Fleur’s breathy, sultry tone certainly added to that. She couldn’t hide the hint of disappointment that the proposition was an assignment. However, she was graceful for the opportunity to raise her grade.
Setting the water glass down on the desk, Lavender drew her wand. Turning so Fleur was out of her line of sight, Lavender found that it was easier to concentrate. Pointing her wand at the glass, she twirled the tip. The heat building inside her made the charm easier. The water began to steam, small bubbles rose to the top and the ice cubes melted immediately.
Lavender smiled proudly and turned to look at Fleur. Turning back, she knew that cold was going to be a problem. Clearing her throat, she tried to concentrate. Moving her wand, Lavender performed that charm much better than she had in class.
The water stopped bubbling and condensation appeared thickly on the side of the glass. However, only a little ice formed and it was around the rim of the glass. She looked to her professor sheepishly.
