"I don't talk to strangers. They are distractions," she clarified, feeling defensive now. "If I don't like it, then I will tell you so."
Then they could stop, simple as that. What was Ahayla so worried about? Then came a clue...Ahayla's partner had left her. She was afraid of being left alone again.
"Did she leave you because you snore?" she asked, trying to make a joke. "If so, it would be nice to know now before we sleep together tonight."
Having supplied Ahayla with food and drink, she had taken care of her...whatever they were to each other...needs. Shifting on the bed, she turned so she could face Ahayla, at least partly. It was easier to talk to someone when she could see them.
"I do not need music to dance with. I dance in silence, with earplugs in. Any noise ruins the experience," she answered the question. "Trade me a secret of your's?"
Wasn't that how it usually worked? Told that Ahayla liked her before they even met, it was her turn to be startled. How was that possible? How could you like someone before you even met them?
"I don't understand...and I am getting cold. Can I get in beside you?"
