"Great," Hermione said, a little bashfully, wondering how much of her meager Ministry salary she had just spent on one robe. She was sure she could afford it but it offended, slightly, her frugal sensibilities. "Thanks so much. I look forward to seeing it finished," she added with sincere gratefulness.
"I would like that," Hermione confessed, though she was a little unsure if she should be so...genuine. However, by the time she thought to be coy, it was too late. She would need to try to be...cooler, she decided, if she was going to spend more time with Narcissa.
Hermione smiled. "I have not been humoring you," Hermione admonished in the bit of a motherly tone she managed sometimes. "It has truly been enjoyable." She paused for a moment. "I mean...it has been a pleasure to work with you as the Ministry's representative." She regretted the step back immediately after saying it. Hermione, being bad at games, smiled at Narcissa and added, "It is especially nice as work is very rarely this fun."
It was Hermione's turn to stop because she too was babbling. She was so nervous and excited and out of her element though that she really didn't notice that Narcissa was doing the same thing!
"Did you...know where you would like to go for lunch?" she asked. "And, that is very kind of you to offer to treat. Maybe...I can treat for a bottle of wine?" she suggested, as they started to depart.
Hermione knew that was a bad idea. Though, now that she had said it, the idea of having some wine with Narcissa was too intriguing to pass up if she agreed!
