Narcissa smiled softly to herself as Malkin prattled on. True, if the setting were different, the two woman would probably not be on friendly terms. But Narcissa had few friends, well, true ones, that weren't tainted with the dark mark. She had had a few friends in school, but Lucius and Bellatrix had taken care to scare off any friends that they found "unsavory." Which, safe to say, had been a lot. Because of that, and the other surroundings Narcissa had grown up in, she had made herself a very string, very hard and cold exterior. But in reality, Narcissa really did only want friends. She had always been so lonely, as her path in life had been decided and controlled since a young age. Sometimes, she wished she had had the courage her sister Andromeda had and had just run away. But Narcissa had been a Slytherin for a reason. Courage was one thing she seemed to lack.
Turning from the mirror to see which one Hermione had chosen, Narcissa smiled. "That one is my top contender." she turned to Malkin. "Madame, I think my lace is finally chosen."
"Ah, finally!" Malkin said as she finished up the measurements. She spoke to Hermione. "She's been back and forth on that for over a month now." at this comment, Narcissa's cheeks tinged slightly.
