Hermione watched as the two women talked and went back and forth. Again it surprised her the friendly tone; no, it wasn't that. Were they genuinely friends? It seemed like it but that struck Hermione as odd. Without realizing it, she had just always though that Narcissa didn't really have any friends. Of course, that was absurd. People needed to have friends. It was just that she was so aloof that Hermione never saw Narcissa in that light.
It was nice, she thought with a smile.
Walking over to the table, Hermione looked at the lace and all the other ways to accent the dress. Now, she was truly out of her element. She had enough trouble, and not a lot of success, picking out things for herself. She wasn't sure how she would be doing it for someone else.
"How about this one?" she asked, picking up to show a dainty piece of lace. The other piece had struck her as matronly and Hermione didn't think that was appropriate for a woman, despite being older, she was currently seeing in a far different light...
