Hermione had to stifle a giggle was Madame Malkin came out to fuss over Narcissa. She really shouldn't have been surprised. She was sure that Narcissa had spent more at the shop in a year than Hermione would in her entire life. Probably even more than that! It would be foolish for Madame Malkin to do anything but give her the best service she could. Even considering that though, Hermione did find it funny for some reason.
It was even funnier when Hermione realized that Madame Malkin hadn't even recognized her. "Good afternoon," Hermione greeted her with a smile. "I am looking for a gown for Mrs. Black's party, though I am not sure exactly what beyond that." She gave the older woman a reassuring smile. "It is no problem. I am happy to wait for you to assist her than we can look at things for me."
Plus, Hermione was curious about how all this would go and she wanted to watch Narcissa as she picked out her gown for the ball.
