Narcissa returned the smile with a tentative one of her own. Really, she didn't want to make the girl feel awkward. Which is probably what she felt, here Narcissa, a woman on the opposite side of the war (though not of her own accord) and who had a sister who had done horrible, horrible things to Hermione while all she had done was sit in shock and fear and watched. The image of her sister torturing Hermione had been burned into her memory and haunted her to this day. Of any part in the war, she felt the most guilt and regret for not doing something to help the girl. Now, she could only hope to try and reconcile. She knew she deserved no forgiveness, but she hoped to at least try to make amends.
"It is." Narcissa said with an honest, proud smile. She knew that Hermione and her son had not gotten along at Hogwarts, to say the least. She didn't want to upset Hermione by talking about him, despite how much she could talk about him. "He says he want to begin to make amends for what he and his father did during the war." Narcissa chewed her lip as she thought of her son. "All he ever wanted was his father's approval. He is really such a kind boy at heart. Lucius just affects him so..."
Narcissa trailed off as she realized she had continued to speak about her son. "Sorry, I know you must be interested." though she had found it kind that Hermione had even asked.
As Hermione turned back to the flowers, Narcissa watched her subtly. The girl ahd really become a beautiful young woman...
