Hermione found it hard to stand her ground when her visitor entered. She was so regal and strong and intimidating... But, she didn't want to feel intimidated. She had earned her position and her place in wizarding society. She had fought for every gain and had nothing handed to her. Unlike a certain socialite...
"Good afternoon, Mrs. Malfoy. Thank you for coming. Would you care for tea? I would be happy to have some brought up." Gesturing to the seat in front of her desk, she offered it to the regal woman.
Hermione tried not to let Mrs. Malfoy's confrontational attitude put her off balance. She took a deep breath and paused a moment before answering. "I am certain that you can, Mrs. Malfoy. However, due to the circumstances, and new legislation that has been passed, I am to assure that those laws are being abided by. Are you aware of Provision 1662?" Hermione asked evenly.
Provision 1662 made the host of any social function responsible for the presentations of invited speakers. If a speaker was to use hateful speech or tried to insight violence, the function would lose any tax exemptions or other government benefits. Repeated offenses would make a person ineligible for any such benefits in the future.
She waited for Mrs. Malfoy's answer as she took a seat at her desk and crossed her legs.
