Gabrielle fawned for just a moment as Theo gave obvious effort to impress her. She gave him a coy smile with a sideward glance. However, so discreetly only Sara could see, Gabrielle rolled her eyes. "Boys," she laughed in French. Even in her preferred house, she still had not met on who was even tolerable. Theo wasn't at all likely to get an invitation to her bed. Gabrielle set the bar far higher than tolerable.
Sara, on the other hand...
Gabrielle shrugged and smiled back. "Popularity is not zee only thing I notice," she said quietly as the boys spoke louder and louder trying to get Gabrielle to notice as they pretended to ignore her and Sara.
At first, she was disappointed by the handshake she received. Then, she felt the more intimate touch of the fingertips on her wrist. When Sara withdrew, Gabrielle let her fingertips lightly drag over Sara's palm and fingers.
"Merci," she said warmly. "I think zhat it is my kind of place. I like it," she added with a pointed look to Sara. "And, fear not, I 'ave a bite of my own." She gave the boys a saucy wink that was again not for them even if they were fool enough to think it was.
"I am looking forward to zee green and silver. I 'ave always thought silver was quite flattering on me." She glanced at the stairs to the girls dormitory. "I wonder where I am staying," she mused. "I 'ope zhey gave me my uniforms when zhey delivered my trunk."
