Not wanting to leave the old man alone in case he had accomplices that could free him or the forest held predators that could harm him, Vaun picked up the man and carried him over his shoulder. His phaser in one hand, he returned to the clinic quickly, faster than any Human could.
Checking for any hostiles as he entered the clinic, he tried to remember his Starfleet combat training. It wasn't a subject that he had occassion to use yet. Setting the old man down, he searched for a medkit then began to perform first aid on Zach. Anything beyond first aid was beyond his training and would have to wait until the injured man could be returned to the shuttlecraft. Taking out his communicator in his free hand, he kept his phaser ready in the other.
"Cadet Vaun to shuttlecraft. We have one fatality and one injured. I shall be returning soon with the injured officer."
Signing off, he closed his communicator and placed it back on his belt.
"What happened here?"
T'Pau never woke Vanessa up, however. It was the Human who needed to rest and regain her strength. Due to Vanessa being able to handle the cold better, she would be leaving the cave and doing the most work. Though the Vulcan heard some very large creatures moving about outside the cave, they never entered. Logic dictated that it was due to the fire. Keeping it going until morning, only then did she try to awaken the Human.
