Kaitlin laughed as the girl retracted and re-explained herself. She meant nothing rude by it, but she found it, well, cute. "It's okay." Kaitlin tried to assure her. "We're not in our dorms. You don't have to worry so much about how you sound." She smiled, as if to accent the point, but then nodded. "I know what you mean though. Sometimes the only way you can learn stuff is to be hands on and really look at how things interact and change one another."
The more Kaitlin and Tracey were talking, the more the rose headed girl was starting to realize that Tracey was more than just a cute girl who wore a nice robe and was smart and it gave her the smallest tickle at the corners of her lips. This really was one of the better walks she'd ever taken with anyone around the lake and it was so nice to exchange ideas with someone and have a real conversation.
"All of the above." She replied, never fully taking her gaze off Tracey. "Though I've never been as good as I'd like to be at Calligraphy. I've always wanted to try it in the traditional, oriental, style. It used to be drawn in a small sandbox for practice. Did you know that? Anyway. I thought about getting one of those, to try it out with and see if it helps."
She lit up when Tracey said she'd write letters with her. "Really?!" She sounded a lot more excited than she meant to, and her teeth immediately sunk into her lower lip. Anyone she'd ever suggested writing letters to, by hand, with a pen, had laughed at her and told her that was the silliest thing in the world. "Oh that's brilliant!"
She was so beside herself with the excitement of it all that she, almost missed that tiny noise that slipped from her lips and it sent chills running along her spine and pricked his skin in goosebumps. "I'm all right. Nowhere near as good a lot of the other girls.." Which wasn't a lie. Kaitlin could fly, but she often got dizzy if she had to do so too fast or make quick turns or changes. Still, she wanted to try. "You really think I should? Maybe you should see me on a broom and tell me what you think?"
Then there were the questions about Muggle comics and she nodded shyly. "Yeah. I don't know. I know they're silly, but I really like them." They also made her feel less strange, like she wasn't quite so odd for being the way she was because, well, just look at characters like Peter Parker. They were awkward, smart, people with powers who made the world better, and Kaitlin quite liked that idea.
Then of course there was that question and, for a moment, Kaitlin froze up.
"I..I do like a fair share of time alone, yes." She added, while her brain was rapidly trying to figure out what she should in response to that. She hung her head slowly and then, after a moment just shook it.
"No." She added quietly. It wasn't that she felt sadness or remorse about what she was about to say, it was just the situation was uncomfortable for her, still, all she could do was be honest and hope it didn't cost her a new friend.
"I don't really care for those." It was vague, but true.
