Watching the exchange between the two Slytherins, Alice felt impotent. Rodolphus scared her. The older boy’s demeanor and behavior didn’t help, but there was something else that made her afraid of him. It was like looking into the eyes of a wolf.
“We are friends.” Alice finally blurted out, not liking any idea that he might be implying that they weren’t.
Alice had been shocked that Rodolphus had come over to her knowing he was one of the biggest blood elitists that there was. Sure he knew she was a Muggleborn, right?
She waited a long time once Rodolphus was gone before she began to relax. “Hi,” Alice greeted Bellatrix with a relieved smile. “What was that about?” she asked, her voice soft. Many of the partygoers had turned their attention elsewhere; as odd as it might have been, people know she and Bellatrix were friends.
