Hermione had known when she accepted Cormac's request that she attend the party with him that it was a mistake. She'd only agreed to the date in order to get under Ron's skin. She just didn't know that he would actually push himself upon her beyond his usual over conceited self.
When the curtain flung open, Hermione was ever grateful. She'd never been so happy to see anyone in her life. The worst part of the whole ordeal had been that the way Cormac had grabbed her up made it impossible to get her wand. Thankfully, he was smart enough to realize that when Ginny Weasley wielded her wand that it was best to simply back away.
Once he released her and exited in a huff, Hermione leaned against the wall. "Thanks, Ginny. Who'd have thought he'd actually be this handsy with a room full of people?"
