"Nothing to worry about, just a thought brought about by some petty gossip I overheard on rounds one evening." Being a prefect Hermione was often catching bits and pieced of conversations others were having even when she wasn't trying to.
It was rather ironic when one took the time to stop and think. Here Hermione was because of Lavender talking about girly things such as hair when the other girl would have sworn that Hermione likely never paid notice to such things. In all honesty, Hermione probably paid more attention than she should. She just didn't usually say anything because she didn't feel that talking about such things helped her academic standings. Yet, she knew that Ginny wouldn't gauge her intelligence by such things so to talk about them with the younger girl only seemed natural.
"It's a monster. I would rather have something I could simply brush and pull back." She let Ginny's hair drop and ran her fingers through it to release any knots she may have caused in the process of playing with it.
Glancing out the window and noting the current star pattern, she gave a slight sigh. She didn't want Ginny's dorm mates to return because that meant heading back to her own dorm where she felt alone. "They should be here any..." Before she could finish her statement the door swung open and Victoria sauntered in.
