"There has been some action," Daphne replied as if she had the patience of a saint. She didn't, of course but it would take a lot for her to let that show. After all, patience was one of the traits that had earned her the job even if it was fake. "Fines have been handed out to eight individuals and two arrests have been made for Illegal Boarding and Mistreatment of Magical Creatures directly related to the issue of Kneazle breeding."
"Many Ministry personnel have come and gone since then," Daphne replied to the dig at her employers. In truth, her job would be a lot easier if the bloated bureaucracy was more efficient and competent."
Daphne saw Katie looking around. She assumed that it was for someone else to interview. If that was the case, Daphne was going to need to try to convince Katie to talk to her. That was the role of the Ministry's Public Relations Department.
She wasn't able to completely hide her shock at what Katie had suggested. Returning her raised brow to a neutral position, she regarded Katie for a moment before replying. "Though Undersecretary Malfoy is new to his position, he has Minister Shacklebolt's trust as well as that of the Secretary he reports to. I can assure you, he has no involvement in any such affairs."
Daphne knew she shouldn't have said that but she felt confident in her answer. Draco was many things but he would hardly run a magical "puppy mill". She was sure her answer wouldn't come back to bite her in the arse.
"Would you care for something to drink or eat?" Daphne offered. "If you have further questions, we can go back to my office to discuss them."
