Taking what she was offered by Marcos, Gabrielle hoped the boy's hands were clean. She had seen him pick up earthworms before, which were slimy and icky. Eyeing the dessert dubiously, it looked fine so she ate it. Returning to a silent room, no one was talking at all.
"Dessert ees here," Gabrielle told everyone, though Lisa and Marcos already knew.
Fleur smiled, grateful for something non-drama to take her mind off the awkward silence. Gabrielle began passing out desserts equally. The girls complained that they should get more.
