"Spoils? Whatever do you mean?" Daphne asked trying to sound appropriately intrigued. Of course, she did have some idea about what Millicent was referring to. However, as it was all just rumor and speculation, Daphne didn't really know what would happen. If Millicent would take the bait, she was happy to compare notes.
As much as she tried to appear calm and collected, Daphne's throat was tight and her heart was hammering. It was so exciting to be somewhere so taboo but it made her nervous as well. Though it had been a game before, she was now happy that Millicent had been asked to protect her. Why did it feel like there was a thousand sets of eyes upon her?
"Now, now. That isn't completely true. Your closeness with Pansy is the only reason I was hesitant to seek you out and that is only because it is not so wise to step between friends, don't you think?" Daphne explained.
"I see." Though she said that, she really didn't. What kind of shop didn't want new customers. Even then, how could it be that Pansy, who wanted for nothing, couldn't get one? "Never wanted to take her with you?" That made Daphne quite happy and made her feel special as she was now being ushered in.
Daphne looked around at the shop. It was cozy in a way but dark and almost aloof. It was hard to get a proper feel of it.
"Good afternoon," Daphne greeted the shopkeep. The way that Millicent and Camille spoke about her previous shopping made her feel a silly girl. It wasn't how she liked to feel but she thought better than to comment right then.
"I am eager for the opportunity," Daphne replied with sugary politeness instead of the acid laced tone she had in her head.
"I was shopping for some lingerie," Daphne explained, curious to see what the shop might have to offer.
