"Again?" Daphne laughed. "How many is that now for her? Five? Six?" The topic of Blaise's mother and her rotating husbands and surnames was quite funny to most of the Slytherins and Daphne was no exception. A bit of mean spirited gossip was one of the best ways to pass the time in the dungeon at points.
Beard? Is that what Millicent had said? It had come and gone so quickly that Daphne wasn't sure. Saying something as that was quite slanderous; unless true, of course. Leaning in, she whispered, "Playing the part of the girl he is courting so his mum doesn't know of his womanizing ways?" Daphne ventured. "Or...is that rumor about the broom closet, Theo Nott and Blaise on his knees true?"
Blaise and Millicent were close; everyone knew that. Daphne had no idea if Millicent would say more let alone confirm anything.
"Oh, yes, of course," Daphne stammered for a moment. She had never been to Italy despite begging her parents. It was a bit of a sore spot, to say the least.
"Millicent," Daphne gasped, playing at being scandalized. "Proper witches don't enter such places." She grinned impishly. "Luckily, I am no such thing," Daphne leaned in and whispered before giggling.
Hearing Pansy's shrill laugh cut the air, Daphne winced. She bit back a snide comment then looked up in shock as Millicent made one. She cocked an eyebrow at her questioningly.
Pansy was forgotten as she saw the ring on Millicent's fingers. "When did you get that?" she asked excitedly. Reaching out, she tried to seize Millicent's hand so she could pull it over for a closer look at the ring. "It is beautiful! And must have cost a fortune?"
