Katie gave her a reassuring smile. Reaching up, she gently cupped Lucy's cheek. She felt a flood of affection for the Italian beauty. How lucky she had been to have any time with Lucy like this. She felt like she should count her blessings but Katie just felt cheated. "I suppose that is all right," she consoled her gently.
She acutely felt the loss of Lucy's touch as she pulled away. Getting to her feet, Katie began to pace. This was an impossible situation. "Sadly, I bet the Aurors and people who will arrest you and toss you away with the Dementors do care, Lucy," Katie replied emphatically.
"I don't even know where I am going. What if...I have to leave England?" She felt sick. Could she even leave? Where could she go? "What if I can't stay somewhere where anyone can find me?" Hermione had suggested that as a possible way to hide.
"The Ministry...has been taken over by Death Eaters," Katie said, her tone low and ominous. She still couldn't believe it. Though, if Hermione was telling her that she was sure it was true.
