Tracey could feel the stares and hear the whispers of those gathered. She was so torn. It was humiliating but Heidi standing up for her made it like she didn’t have to crawl into a hole and die.
She gasped as Heidi grabbed Goyle’s hand. The fat boy grunted and yanked his arm away, looking like he was fighting the urge to rub it. “You bloody bint,” Goyle cursed at Heidi, though he looked unsure of what to do.
“Whatcha think, Crabbe?” Goyle called over his shoulder. “Think I should make ‘er step up if she wants to be this slag’s boyfriend?” He cracked his knuckles and looked at Heidi.
Tracey reached over and placed her hand on Heidi’s arm silently urging her to just leave.
