Who: Hermione Granger, Ginny Weasley and Harry Potter
What: Hermione and Harry meet on the train at the start of their first year.
When: Monday. June 6th, 1994. End of trio's 3rd year.
Where: The Forbidden Forest.
Rating: PG
Notes: Start of an epic line where Hermione is the Chosen One and Ginny, Harry and Hermione is the trio. Very AU.

Harry found himself terribly distracted as he sat in forest with the girl that was supposed to be his best friend. He was worried and afraid. Sirius wasn't the evil do-er he had thought he was. Professor Lupin was a werewolf who was out of control and had stalked them through the woods.

Hermione had finally showed him how she had been in two places at once. He could still feel the sting on the back of his hand where she had slapped it away when he tried to touch the Time Turner.

There had been a flurry of activity to save Buckbeak but now that it was over and they were simply waiting for the dead of night, Harry's head was filled with thoughts about his best friend and things that he shouldn't be thinking about her.

It didn't help that there were thoughts of his other best friend mixed in there as well…

"Are you cold?" he asked Hermione softly as they hid well away from Hagrid's hut with Buckbeak the hippogriff.

It had been a boring, anxiety filled wait and it wasn't over yet…

Hermione was happy that she could finally share her secret with one of her bestfriend's. She hated lying to them all the time as to where she was, or how she got there a few minutes behind them "I'm just wondering how I am supposed to tell Ginny about this." She said and sighed "I don't want to lie to her anymore either, but it will be difficult." She explained

She nodded "Yes. I am a little bit cold actually. I left my jacket in Madam Promfe's room which was a mistake." She chuckled "Sorry I smacked your hand away earlier, it's just the time turner is very delicate." she said to him as she leaned her head against the tree

"Do you think Ginny will be okay?" she asked him "Her leg was scarred up pretty badly from when Sirius got her, only because he wanted Scabbers.. well I guess you could say Peter." she added to him

Harry was shaken from his thoughts as Hermione spoke. For a moment, he wondered if he might have given something away. "Oh! The Time Turner?" he asked. "She'll understand. It might…just take a few days." He smiled at Hermione. Ginny had a little temper but she always came around.

Reaching out, Harry awkwardly put his arm around his friend and pulled her closer so that he could try and warm her up. With her being so close, it did nothing to cause his thoughts to calm about…her.

"She'll be fine, I am sure," Harry said, though he was nervous about her. "She is in the Hospital Wing and Madame Pomfrey seemed to think she would be all right."

"I hope she'll understand. I don't want her to think I cut her out on purpose.. but she really couldn't walk." she said and sighed "I know it's my fault.. I don't like seeing my friends getting hurt, it sucks." She admitted feeling miserable

She smiled brightly when Harry pulled her closer to him so that she could get warmed up "Hmm thankyou Harry, that was nice of you to do." She said and sighed a little "I'm surprised Dumbledore trusted us to do something like this, I know I am the Chosen one but I'm just a teenager.." she sighed sadly "I don't know how to fight off Voldemort just yet.. the past two years I was just really really lucky." she said worriedly

Hermione sighed a little bit "Finding out that I have a godfather was interesting.. even though we all thought he was a killer." She chuckled

"She will," Harry assured her. "I am sure she wanted to help and will be cranky about that but she will understand that too…eventually. It might just take a little time." Harry felt bad for her. "It's not your fault. She knows you didn't do anything to get her hurt."

Hermione being so close made it hard for him to concentrate on what she was saying. He nodded along mutely. Even not in his addled state, he wasn't sure he would have anything really insightful to say.

Plus, there was one thought repeating in his head over and over and over to the point he couldn’t really think of anything else. However, he was too scared of Hermione not liking it that he couldn't bring himself to do it.

Harry laughed and looked at Hermione as he did. "Yeah."

He smiled at her for a moment. Slowly, the smile faded. For a moment, he felt a flood of daring and seized on it. Harry's eyes fluttered shut as he leaned in to try and press his lips to his friend's…

"Well we can both talk to Ginny once we get back." She said to him "I just hope we get back in time. I shudder to think what would happen to us if we wern't.." She whispered to him nervously incase Professor Lupin could hear them in his wolf form.

She always had strong feelings for Harry, ever since they first met. She however could never tell him how she felt since she wasn't sure if he felt the same way towards her. They were after all bestfriend's now.

Feeling Harry kiss her was a surprise, something she didn't intend on him doing. However, she was bursting with happiness inside and kissed him back.

Harry nodded distractedly. He had been listening but Hermione’s words didn’t sink in. He tried to understand them but eventually just gave up. Asking her to clarify would make him feel pretty dumb and he wasn’t sure it would be any clearer to him the second time.

When their lips met, Harry felt a thrill shoot through him. He left his lips there not really sure what to do with them now that they were touching Hermione’s. When he felt hers move against him, he tried to do the same thing. He pursed his lips then let them pull back. Slowly, he did again…and again…and again.

It was thrilling experimenting. He was afraid the kiss wouldn’t be great until they were both good at it but he had been totally wrong! It was great and getting better by the second!

She pulled away from the kiss and looked at Harry with a confused expression "What was that for?" she asked with a blush and she wanted to laugh but she really liked the kiss, it made her wonder now if Harry did always like her like she had liked him. Though she was still afraid to ask

"Do you like me Harry? I mean as more than a friend.. is that why you kissed me?" she asked hopeful, she still was afraid that she was going to get rejected but she had to atleast be brave about it. She was after all a Gryffindor, bravery was the strong suit.

Waiting for an awnser she ran fingers through her hair trying to get the knots out of it, the wind tonight was to strong for that. She couldn't believe she was also sharing her secret with Harry, that meant alot to her.

Harry was too addled to answer Hermione’s question when the kiss finally ended. He looked down, his shoes suddenly very interesting to him, as he tried to come up a reason. Well, a reason he could admit, that is.

He hadn’t come up with one by the time Hermione asked him the second question. He was tempted to try and get out of answering it but there really didn’t seem like there was any way. He couldn’t lie; Gryffindors didn’t behave that way! Harry looked up at Hermione and nodded. “I’ve been wanting to…kiss you for a while now,” he admitted.

He really didn’t know what it all meant. Liking girls was very new territory so he didn’t even try to explain it because he couldn’t figure it out himself.

“I’m sorry if…you didn’t want me to,” Harry said softly, fearing he had made a terrible mistake.
