“Why…this time?” Jules asked though she regretted the question immediately because if Claire answered it would just hurt.
“If I could quit, don’t you think I would have?” Jules asked Claire as if the answer was obviously that she would have. Should she tell her why? “I don’t really care about the money. Don’t get me wrong, I use it because I have it but I would be fine going without.”
Julia nodded. “Would it make you feel better if I told you almost all my clients are women?” she asked jokingly, trying to break the tension but afraid her joke would fall flat the second it slipped her lips.
