Katie’s smirked twisted into a bemused frown. How could Lucy manage to play the game this well? It was maddening but in a way that made her more attracted to the other girl in ways she hadn’t really thought possible. “Huh,” Katie grunted feigning disinterest.
“Nope,” Katie said, her lips popped as she spoke the word. “Not a thing.”
“Distracted? No. Nothing that interesting about to cause a distraction,” Katie quipped with a bored shrug. Two could play at that game!
Katie didn’t really hear the other pairs talking. She didn’t want Professor Delacour to have to make a show of disciplining them. Or…did she?
Unsure for the moment, Katie decided something else evil to do to Lucy.
Letting her wand slip under the table, she closed her eyes and her features scrunched up in concentration. A silk rope emerged from her wand. It moved like a slow snake and wrapped around Lucy’s ankle for just a second before it faded to smoke.
