Katie shrugged and laughed. “I am really shocked.” It was clear form her tone that she was being sarcastic. “It lasted all of about two months and I think we went on one date. To Hogsmeade, of course.” It seemed like that was almost everyone’s first date at Hogwarts.
“Heard about that one?” Katie asked, looking over her shoulder and smiling. She still couldn’t tell if the other girl was really looking at her or not. “I haven’t seen much of Daphne since then. I guess she has been busy. At least I haven’t made anymore bets that will damage the eardrums of my school mates!”
Katie was thinking she might have been, but it just as easily could have been her mind playing tricks on her. Amber is straight, you know she is, Katie admonished herself. And, you have a girlfriend!
Hearing what Amber said, Katie didn’t know how to respond. Was she being serious? Or was it just some game so the Slytherin could make her feel bad, then make her look like a prat when she said something kind?
“I’ve seen you at games before,” Katie replied truthfully. She paused and her tone softened. “Do you really come out to watch me?” Katie might have a true fan, the idea was really exciting.
“Thanks,” Katie replied a little embarrassed about the attention she was getting.
Washing her hair, she was almost done in the shower. Tilting her head back and turning her back to the nozzle, Amber could see her naked body fully if she looked.
“I’m more of a finesse player,” Katie admitted, her eyes closed as the water cascaded down her face. The question stuck her that it was likely and innuendo, but she wasn’t totally sure. “Though, I can get a bit rough…if the mood strikes me.” Katie’s answer was truthful in answering the question no matter what the real purpose of it had been.
Rinsing off, she turned off the water and took a towel. “I’m a little surprised that you don’t have a boyfriend,” Katie said conversationally. “Even with so few boys I’d figure you would still have them beating down your door.”
