"Well... I think he knew that she wasn't gay, but that she was using me to get back at her boyfriend." She sighed a little, thinking about it with a little pang in her chest. "Me, on the other hand," she said as she waved a hand, the other now rubbing her instep with a strong thumb.
"He knew that I was going to need practice training my heart to stay in my chest and not go follow around every beautiful woman who catches my eye. He was right, too." She sipped her tea again, curling her feet under her body. "It was a good lesson to learn then." Though it had been a terribly, terribly lonely lesson as well.
