"It's all right," Tracey assured her, trying to shake the sleepiness out of her head. "I wasn't really asleep yet." She tried not to worry but she couldn't help it, especially with their earlier talk.
"Oh." She felt relieved that it seemed to be nothing bad. "What did you think it might be like?"
"I hope we last that long," Tracey confessed. "I hope we last longer." It was scary but she didn't want to be afraid anymore. Tracey had spent so much time afraid that she didn't want to let it control her anymore. She had lost the last of her family over who she was. What else did she have to fear?
