Draco’s brow furrowed. “Who is being…resolute now?” he mused gently. He had no idea why he felt the need to inject levity into the situation. Was it because he thought that Hermione had been the one to have her memory altered?
It was possible but there had been things that had felt so familiar. It was possible that she’d taken the memories from him.
The more he considered it, the more confused he got. One of the problems with magic was that possibilities made some cycles of thought endless as there could be no definitive proof.
Draco felt guilty when Hermione referred to herself as nothing. An uncomfortable silence followed. He wanted to refute her claim but he couldn’t quite bring himself to. “You know, Granger,“ he began, “It takes the fun out of it when you insult yourself.”
