"I am glad." Jules smiled, amused by her own humor. "I would hate to think that I have done something to sour our new friendship."
Jules was clearly impressed with Claire's observation. Her expression lit up as she smiled. "Exactly!" It was the first time Jules had shown any real exuberance in Claire's presence. "No matter how astute the observer, it's impossible to see the effects until you compare the start of the evening with the end."
She looked up at the stars for a while before she rolled on her side. Nudging Claire's hand with her cheek, Jules positioned herself to lay on Claire's open hand and looked at her.
