"Right," Tracey mused, drawing out the word as she spoke before breaking into giggles.
She felt like her heart was going to beat out of her chest as she waited for Heidi to speak. It felt like a hundred years of anxiety. Every horrible thing Heidi might say battled fro prominence in her mind along with the words she dreamed to hear.
Tracey smiled brightly when Heidi made her vow and she laughed as the nervousness boiled over into a joyful release. She should have just taken her word for it. She should have just let it go, but she needed to be sure.
"I'll be the only one?" she asked. "And no more having to fear what might fall out of your jacket pocket?" she prodded gently, sure Heidi knew what she was referring to. She didn't want her to feel guilty, but she needed to hear it if she was going to make the promise she wanted to make.
