"I'm surprised all my hair made it. You always said you'd like to see me with shorter hair." Tracey reached up to make sure it was still there as she smirked at Heidi.
As they walked, Tracey had to fight the urge to pull her arm away. It felt like everyone was staring at them. Even the innocent gesture of walking arm and arm betrayed all her dirty secrets; at least, that's how Tracey felt. In truth, no one spared them even a second glance.
"Sure. This looks fine." She wasn't sure what she expected but it wasn't some place like this. It seemed a little too…small. Though, they were just getting take-out. Opening the door, she held it open for Heidi.
As she stood watching her, Tracey felt a lot of her old feelings welling up inside her. She couldn't help but wonder where they would have both stood if she'd just admitted to everyone that they were together and they'd tried to stay together.
