"Yes." Sara nodded, resolute in her opinion. "When I first figured out that you two were together, I watched you. You were more happy than you ever were with me. You smiled more, there was this...glow about you." she bit her lip and looked away, obviously hurt at the memory. "Now...Well, you're not with her and I saw that as soon as you broke up with her and started all those rumors. You were more unhappy than you have ever been. Even more than when I broke up with you." Running a hand through her hair, Sara sighed. "I could tell Macavoy was ready to give her life to you, to do whatever you wanted to make you the happiest I couldn't, and you deserved that happiness. It wasn't my place to keep you from it."
Sara looked up to Tracey. "That's exactly what I mean." she said. "I don't trust myself. That's why I have to show you how much I care in other ways. It's why I choose the nicest and classiest hotels. Why I give you the most expensive and beautiful gifts." she chewed her lip again. "After we...do this. When you fall asleep, I watch you and wish things could be different. YOu look so peaceful and beautiful and I just can't help but love you."
"But I did like you. I do like you. Merlin, I love you. I always have. I'm sorry I never showed it, but it's too late now."
Looking up in shock at Tracey's words, Sara felt tears at the edge of her eyes. "What?" she asked softly, not wanting to believe what Tracey's words must really mean.
