"Yeah, hence the name. Original, I know." Alex scribbled down the order shorthand and shoved it into her pocket just as the grungy young man came and sat at the table. She eyed him, a slight grimace appearing at the corners of her mouth as she pressed her lips together to prevent herself from outright frowning. "Lady's table. I'll be back with your Diet Coke in a bit."
She gave the guy another look. He didn't look like he could even afford a cup of coffee. She quickly called an order up to the cooks and made another round of her tables, gathering checks, filling empty glasses, and expertly getting food to people right before they got irritated. She made a quick stop by the blonde's table and dropped off the Diet Coke, not stopping to take the order of the guy who sat down. She moved on to one woman who had "heard this place was good, but it's kind of dirty if you ask me" didn't like the color of the lettuce on her burger and sent it back. Alex just flipped the lettuce to the greener side. The woman smiled her appreciation at Alex's effort. It was a talent, Alex decided, to be a server and put up with the various picky bullshit eaters that wandered in.
While Alex idled for a minute by the kitchen since the blonde's order was almost done. Her eyes scanned the diner, absent-mindedly taking note of customer cues, but her eyes drifted back to the blonde's table.
