Tracey chalked up the pause in giving over her jacket as nerves. It felt good that she wasn’t the only one nervous but it did make her worry that maybe they both should just realize they should be doing this.
“Did you…find it all right?” What she really wanted to ask was if anyone had seen her coming up but she somehow resisted the urge for the time being. Tracey knew that Heidi really wouldn’t react well to that type of question.
Tracey went to hang the jacket in the closet. “Thank you. I hope you like it.” Moving back to the kitchen, she finished the preparations for dinner and put the casserole in the oven.
“How was your week?” she asked, the silence too awkward to allow to hand too long. She made two salads for them and set them on the table. “What can I get you to drink?”
