Tracey really didn’t want to leave even as her mind screamed at her to do just that. She was horribly conflicted. Of one mind, she had given up being happy to be safe and secure. How could she go back now? Of the other mind, she was “safe” but completely miserable.
Plus, no matter what Heidi said, it seemed impossible they could even have anything together. Tracey bitterly reflected on that being completely her fault and every reprehensible thing she had done came flooding back to her mind.
Nodding, Tracey began to move towards the elevator to leave. Fresh tears rolled down her cheeks with each step she took away from Heidi.
