“You couldn’t play for the Irish team and the Harpies? I thought lots of people did that?” Tracey really had no idea. The Quidditch World Cup and its tournament structure was a mystery to her. “I didn’t think you’d ever leave the Harpies,” Tracey added. It seemed her love for the team hadn’t faded even if her enjoyment of things had.
“Ah.” The mention of Ginny took a bit of the fun out of it. “They going to make her Captain?” she wondered. “Katie seems like she would be good at it. At least, she used to seem like it. Not like I’ve talked to her,” she said, regret evident in her tone.
She could easily detect Heidi’s sarcasm. “It’s important,” she responded a little defensively, though Tracey lacked any real conviction in her words.
“No.” Tracey looked down, visibly a bit ashamed. “I…haven’t been doing much with it. I went for a promotion but…I didn’t get it.”
She had no idea how to respond to that. Tracey shrugged. “It can be rewarding. Plus, pets are one of the only things in the world that are truly loyal…” It wasn’t lost on her how disloyal she had been to Heidi.
