"I don't." Tracey's voice was weak and soft. She tried to sound resolute and strong, not only for her own sake but Heidi's as well. Sadly, she failed in a spectacular fashion. Looking down at her feet, she remained silent for a long time.
"Why does it mean I was ashamed because I wanted my private life private?" Tracey snapped before she could stop herself, acknowledging their relationship by her words. "Why did we have to…flaunt it?" She winced at her own words, having heard how she and Heidi had flaunted their disgusting lifestyle many times.
Tracey shook her head and wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. "You don't understand…"
"So you say." She knew Heidi would deny it. It was possible that Heidi hadn't even done it consciously but that made little difference to Tracey.
Tracey couldn’t bring herself to leave. Even fighting was better than…never seeing Heidi again. She knew that's what would happen if she left right then. "What do you want then?" she asked weakly, unable to look Heidi in the face.
