The word "benefits", plural, set off an alarm in Tracey mind. She looked at Sara questioningly. There was no way that Sara meant what Tracey assumed she meant. "What does that mean?" she inquired, wondering if Sara would tell her.
When Sara's hand was being naughty, Tracey squirmed and giggled. "Hey…none of that," she admonished softly. It felt nice, too nice, and Tracey didn't want to put herself in a position that might lead to…other things.
Tracey sighed sadly. "It's hard," she admitted. "I do have pity on you." She was careful not to sound condescending because she was using the word genuinely. "I want you to be happy. We could have been happy…" A tear rolled down her cheek as she looked at Sara.
"Thanks." Tracey shrugged. "In a weird way, it's kind of a relief. I've worried about it so long. Now, I don't need to worry anymore…" Taking Sara's hand, she pulled her over to sit on the bed with her.
She continued to hold Sara's hand. It was odd because it was something they had never done before. The sentimental gesture was beyond them when they were dating.
