Harry slept better that night than he had in weeks and weeks. The blissful rest, free of his usual nightmares, was due to Ginny. He knew it. The good feelings lingered when he went upstairs and warmed and comforted him.
Getting up, he tried to act natural around Ron. Luckily, he was so distracted by the presents at the foot of his bed. Harry began to open his. Ron seemed happy with the Chudley Cannons shirt Harry had got him. He hoped that Ginny and Hermione liked the presents her had gotten them. Though, he wondered if they were at all appropriate now.
Hermione’s gift was what he expected, though it was great. It was a book on Defense Against the Dark Arts centering on theories on how to combat the Unforgivable Curses.
There wasn’t one from Ginny. He actually hadn’t given him hers either. It was odd, but his gift was a perfect metaphor. Had he bought it without ever recognizing it at all? He would give it to her when they were alone.
Dressing in baggy jeans, he wore the black sweater that Misses Weasley had knitted him; as was the tradition. Going down to breakfast, he greeted everyone with a happy, “Good morning.”
He gave Ginny a sly smile before turning to see all the food Mrs. Weasley had put out. Ron was already digging in…
Harry sat next to Ginny and started making a plate as he told Mrs. Weasley how wonderful everything looked.
