Clara nodded. “It would seem that way.” It was usually the case, by far, in her own experience. Was that the case here? If so, what did she find that she was looking for? She had some insight into Sara, but to believe she had great insight into her would have been arrogant to the point of self delusion.
“Good,” Clara responded with a hint of playfulness. “I would hate to think my powers of observation where failing me.”
“Something she mused?” Her tone took on a purring quality of its own. Leaning forward, a little awkwardly due to the size of the table, she watched Sara intently. She did not expect the other girl to retreat, but it was always possible.
