Clara smiled, nodding respectfully to Sara. “As it should be.” It was nice to see a Pureblood girl who was not a submissive little flower at heart. It seemed that Theo was thoroughly outmatched, at least for now. Would it always be so?
Clara, for the first time, was actually visibly surprised. However, her carefully schooled features were quickly returned. “That is a very kind thing to say,” she responded. “What makes you say that?”
Naturally, Clara was curious what Sara had on Daphne. However, not one to traffic in gossip, she surely wasn’t going to search out answers just to sate her own curiosity.
Letting the first comment pass, she paused to consider the second. “I do not know. I do not lie to myself,” she stated resolutely. “It seems to me that when one lies to themselves that it ceases becoming a lie and begins to blur the truth until it is the truth. I feel that a person owes themselves better than that.”
