Tracey was shocked to find herself pushed away from Sara. She made a strangled sound at the loss of the lips she wanted to badly to kiss. Even her hands had been denied. But why?
She felt a sharp pain in her elbow as she caught the edge of a lamp and it clattered nosily to the ground. Tracey was leaning to pick it up when she heard the door open. She was thankful that she was facing down when McGonagall came back.
“I must say I am less than impressed, ladies,” the stern professor announced as Tracey fought the urge to rub her elbow. “You did not make nearly the headway that I would have suspected. Tsk, tsk.”
Tracey stood up and had schooled her features to not look guilty as the teacher paused to think. “Out, both of you. I am tempted to give you both another detention to see if you can do more. However, I will not. But be aware you are on a short leash.” McGonagall reached into her robes and handed the two girls back their wands. “Here, I did not have a chance to give these to Professor Snape. You may both go.”
She ushered Sara and Tracey out of her supply closet and locked it before turning on her heel and leaving. Once she was well out of sight, Tracey turned to Sara and looked at her questioningly.
