Ginny watched the interaction between the two girls with amused interest. It didn’t take much to get Amanda away from them, it seemed. Before she could even say “bye”, Amanda was gone after the band member.
“W-what? Really?” Ginny looked over at Amanda and tried to see who she was talking to. “That’s weird.” She smiled sheepishly. “I thought you guys might be an item,” Ginny admitted, assuming that Gabrielle would hardly be amused if her girl friend was having an affair that was supposed to be secret.
Her mouth went dry at Gabrielle’s suggestion. She took a sip of her Champagne and tried to dispel that feeling. Sadly, the dry, bubbly wine did nothing to ease that feeling. Don’t be a prat, it’s innocent. Get your mind out of the gutter, a voice in the back of her head demanded.
“Like a slumber party?” Ginny joked. “Well, I can’t stay up all night. I need to get up at a reasonable hour to get to the pitch. But, that sounds nice.” She smiled graciously. “If you want to though, it might be best to leave here a little early. That way we can catch up and still get to bed somewhat early.” It was after she said her words that Ginny realized the possible double meaning.
