"Maybe your dad has special, magical powers," Eleanor said, nodding seriously. "Band-aid's most certainly help." Eleanor pulled her sleeve up and showed the little girl a bright blue and green striped band-aid on her elbow. "What do you think of this one?" she asked, voice completely serious as though this was the most important conversation she'd ever had. "Emily is a very nice name. I really like it." She smiled at Emily's extra z's.
"It wouldn't be fair to the other sprinkles if you just ate the pink ones," she said. "Their feelings might get hurt and that'd be quite sad."
Emily's father's presence was very overwhelming. He seemed to have a rather large personality and he was just standing there. He looked vaguely familiar but she wasn't very good at placing names and faces. "Oh. It's okay. We were just discussing ice cream and your healing powers." Eleanor smiled at him and gestured for him to sit. "You're more than welcome to join us," she teased.
