Who: Betty Ross, Pepper Potts.
What: Girls night out.
Where: Happy Hour.
The commotion of last night had kept Betty in her apartment, as JARVIS, though he wouldn't quite explain why, strongly suggested she remain where she was. Not particularly one for being treated like a child, she demanded that she be shown what was going on. She was only able to catch a group of men leading some sort of prisoner through the lobby, the logos on their uniforms undeniably S.H.I.E.L.D.
Since coming to work for Stark Industries, Betty had seen far more of S.H.I.E.L.D. than she was comfortable with, though they weren't the U.S. military and that was one of their only good sides for her. Nick Fury's organisation was keeping General Ross off of both Bruce's and her own trail. While not lying low, per se, S.H.I.E.L.D. protected Betty from military search and seizure, and considering her own ties to Bruce, was helpful, and Betty was honestly thankful to have to deal with her father as infrequently as was possible.
Betty wasn't certain she would ever forgive what he had done to Bruce and what he wanted her to do, and she wasn't sure if she ever wanted to. Bruce was very important to her if she was understating it. In truth, she loved him dearly, even if they could never have anything like they did before his transformation. Nevertheless, her feelings for him never changed.
At the current moment, Betty was pushing open the doors to the usual place she and Pepper would go after a long day's work. The bartender and the maitre d welcomed her with smiles, the latter chauffeuring her over to a nice table semi-secluded from the loud noises of the main bar. Betty hadn't even bothered to return to the Tower after her teaching down at NYU today, more than ready for a nice drink and preparing herself for the mostly good news from Pepper.
She figured Pepper would tell her more about what happened in the lobby, but that hardly seemed like good news, which must make that the partially bad part, and she was curious about both sides. Placing in an order for a cosmopolitan, a drink she never really liked until she had one here, and now they were decidedly her favourite, Betty waited in conflicted excitement for Pepper.
