Who: Peter Parker, Danny Rand.
What: Lab partners.
Where: Midtown Science High School; organic chemistry lab.
The idea that, after all the stuff that happened in that house, Peter Parker being a superhero besides, made sitting in this classroom even more awkward than it used to be. For the first half of the class, Peter employed the age old, 'open the book to the right page, rest your hands on you cheeks and lean over the book' trick to get away with being asleep. He'd read the book already, and he had already done work on this a little more advanced in Oscorp before Doctor Conners took a turn for the worst, so there was really no need for him to be paying attention.
While he was daydreaming, Peter was trying to think about the full moon coming up, but he couldn't tune out what Aunt May had said this morning. Bruce had called them up and told them about Loki, but all over the news today, everyone was up in arms about him, some were calling for a trial, some were calling for a flat out execution. Every citizen was either planning to try to contact S.H.I.E.L.D. -fat chance, S.H.I.E.L.D. contacts you- or flock to government centres, demanding they do something. Obama was going to get flooded with rallies to get Loki away from Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., and then there was the rest of the world to deal with too.
Way to go, Odin. Could you have dropped him anywhere else?
Peter was worried about Loki, and it was only fair. Loki had taken care of him and Rikki for a while now, and now, if Bruce was telling the truth and Loki was just a normal human being now, they would all have to help him because no one else could. The fact they wouldn't have Tony and all his charisma and money on board worried him, but they could still make it work, right? His daydreams continued -of you could call these daydreams... what are they dreamplans?- until the utterance of probably the worst phrase for a kid like Peter. "Alright class, everyone find a partner."
Snapping awake, and nearly face planting into the book, Peter looked around, finding that, like usual, everyone was either already paired off, to quickly pairing off, leaving Peter -once again- either partnerless, or with an assigned partner. "I didn't miss this," he mumbled, looking up at the board to see what the current assignment was. Oh good, it was a multiple week project. "Greeaat."
