RP: Press Conference
Who: Andromeda Tonks
When: August 2nd, 2030; 5pm
Where: Ministry of Magic
Summary: The Minister makes a speech (WARNING: Character Death)
Public/Private: Public
Rating: TBD
The Minister looked out at the assembled crowd. There were reporters, Aurors, Ministry officials, and civilians. They'd all come to hear what the Ministry had to say, officially, about the past month. In all her advanced years, Andromeda Tonks had never seen anything like the magic mishaps that had happened. Simple spells, gone wrong. It had the potential to be humorous, but just this morning she'd read a report of a six year old boy, who's first sign of magic had been turning his mother into a slug. When the Healers had gone to reverse it, the slug grew in size to that of a woman, but had remained nonetheless, slug like. They'd finally gotten the mother back to normal, but it had taken twice as long as it should have. And that was just one of many scenarios.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Andromeda said, speaking into the microphone that the WizTech department had set up. "Thank you for coming today. I know you all have questions and concerns, and rest assured I will do my best to answer them at the end of the conference." She looked out at the crowd, doing her best to project a serenity and confidence she didn't feel. The Department of Mysteries had been researching possible causes, but found nothing. The most she could do was reassure the public that the Ministry was doing everything in its power to find a cure for whatever was happening.
She leaned in to speak again, when the microphone let out a series of loud pops, and went silent. Andromeda blinked in shock, and then shook her head. Wizards had been giving speeches long before microphones were around. She pointed her wand at her throat, smiled at the crowd, and said, "Sonorous."
At first, she didn't know what had happened. People were screaming, but they seemed so far away. She looked down, saw her wand covered in blood, and then there was nothing but darkness.
