Stories should be devoid of 'ships'. Actual canon pairings (Jack/Ianto, Gwen/Rhys, Tosh/Tommy, etc.) may be referenced if necessary for background information, but should not be an integral part of the storyline.
No UST.

1. Humor, angst, maybe some H/C - The team returns from a rare weekend off to find the Hub seemingly deserted. Jack's clothes are in a pile on the floor near a strange artifact and Myfanwy seems to have acquired a new chick - a small human child with familiar blue eyes. Mild references to the J/I relationship similar to those seen on the show is fine, but I want this to be primarily a team/friendship fic.
2. Angst, H/C - Anytime post-EoD - AU What if Jack didn't wake up 'fine' after his experience with Abaddon and was unable to grant the team an [overly generous and unearned] apology. The team is forced to face the consequences of their betrayal. Can be either Gen or J/I slash - no J/G.
3. Gen/Adult AU - Jack is not the leader of Torchwood, just a regular team member. He was never forced into the position because Alex Hopkins didn’t kill his team. Instead, he made changes to get them ready, recruited Jack as a full-time member of TW, is slowly training him to be a team player instead of the loose canon and loner he was before (slowly, because a hundred years of routine is hard to change). The natural turnover of Torchwood means that, one by one, the original team is replaced by the team we know from canon +Alex or a different leader who isn't Jack, perhaps Suzie? They skip over Jack because he doesn’t want the responsibility, still waiting for the Doctor. The plot can be an AU retelling of one or more canon episodes, deal with how things are different because of different team-dynamics (the more different the better) – or an entirely original story. I'd prefer Jack/Ianto to be included as a pairing, but since Jack will be Jack, and this time, he isn’t in a position where sexual relationships would damage his authority, he might or might not be sleeping with each one of his co-workers, either as a one-off or semi-regularly, as a sort of bonding exercise. I don't like relationship-angst (especially from Ianto) so I'd prefer if all involved were okay with the arrangement and didn’t expect more from it than what they're going to get (although they can get more than they expected). No BDSM or bloodplay, please. Or else it can be more or less gen.
4. Gen/Adult Missing-two-years-fic - Time Agent!Jack tracked Gray's whereabouts to a cryogenic chamber in 21st century Cardiff. The cause of when everything changes in the 21st century? It is due to his attempt at freeing and rehabilitating Gray and his fight against Torchwood (and his immortal self but he never learns about that). Morally-ambiguous-everything-for-his-brother!Jack preferred, but not outright evil!Jack. In the end, he needs to be retconned because he has seen Torchwood, and/or learnt of his future. Alive!Ianto preferred but not required. If it is post-CoE then please, don't default to a cliché fix (for example, I'd consider it a non-cliché idea if TimeAgent!Jack used some future!tech to bring back Ianto (in whatever condition) and offered him in exchange for his brother). Or it can be just a complete AU plotline for S3 (but post-Exit Wounds, obviously). Can contain John Hart (from immortal!Jack's timeline because an earlier version would be against canon) as it would be interesting to see where his loyalties would be in such a situation (he'd probably find a way to play and, eventually, betray both sides LOL) but no older!Jack/John pairing and especially no John/Ianto, please. I'd also like to see at least part of it from young!Jack's POV. No BDSM or bloodplay, please.
5. Gen/Adult AU, angst, torture - Jack never joined Torchwood (someone tipped him off to Alice Guppy and Emily Holroyd's interest in him in 1899). So now in the present Jack's still in Cardiff waiting for The Doctor to turn up for refuelling. Jack keeps Torchwood under surveillance in order to avoid them, but one day has to step in and save the day when Gwen and Ianto are about to be killed. Owen recognizes Jack from TW's 'most wanted' file, and takes him prisoner. They're ordered to hand Jack over to UNIT, but when they hear about the types of experiments UNIT are performing on Jack, they help him escape. Can remain strictly Gen, or be either pre-slash Jack/Ianto, or pre-Het Jack/Gwen.
6. Gen/Adult AU, non con, mortal!Jack, slavery, hurt/comfort - Re-writing history just a little... The creatures that attacked the Boeshane Peninsula when Jack was a boy were slave traders. Jack's father is killed, and he and his mother and brother are taken captive. Years later a slave ship falls through the rift into the present crashing near Cardiff. All the slaves were kept at the front of the ship and died on impact. Some of the slavers survived, and when Torchwood explores the ship more, they find a young man (late teens, early twenties) chained up in what looks to be the Captain's cabin. Gwen is determined to help him, and the rest of the team slowly find themselves becoming attached to the young man. A big brother Owen type relationship with Jack would be a nice bonus.
7. Jack dancing with a newly humanoid TARDIS - Knowledge of the Type 102s would be helpful but isn't essential. If you can do Jack/Ianto/TARDIS believably, go for it. If you want to do Jack/Doctor/TARDIS, please set it far in the future. I'd love a long plotty story with both Ianto and Ten learning that they'd underestimated the TARDIS' relationship with Jack and Jack acting as her interpreter for a human culture that he doesn't quite get himself -- but a one-shot of them in a telepathic dream would make me happy too. Really, I just want to see them dancing. :)
8. Imperialism, past and future. - "Empire" and "service" may not mean the same thing to 21st-century humans that they do to someone born in the Great and Bountiful. Any time setting, any canon-compatible relationship is fine.
9. Jack modding his newly acquired Chula ship for time travel. Temporal mechanics, alien AIs, intergalactic spare parts stores, love for fast shiny ships, and freedom. Plus, he looks good in engine grease. Any random pairings are fine, as long as they're not the main focus of the story.
10. Toshiko was brilliant, but still 21st century. She couldn't have built a time lock without an ex-Time Agent's help.
11. None or Jack/Alex - The 1990s, Jack, Alex, Alice. In my head, Jack and Alex were occasional lovers, mainly friends since Alex was mainly straight, and he encouraged Jack to rebuild his relationship with Alice after Lucia cut him out. I'd appreciate it if your story doesn't contradict that, though it doesn't have to follow the same lines.
12. Humour - Jack gets mistaken for a famous actor. "Do I look like I'm here for your entertainment? And why the hell are people asking me to speak Scottish?!"
13. Jack and Faith (Tarot Girl), her first journey off Earth. Immortality, adjustment, and faith (the lowercase kind). No Jack/Faith, please, but other relationships of any sort are fine as background elements. Please keep any Whovian elements to the background too (i.e., they're not travelling in the TARDIS). Any category, as long as it's not complete fluff or crack and the end isn't depressing.
14. "I wouldn't even know how to get your ship pregnant!" Ideally set in season 2 Torchwood, with past Jack/TARDIS, present Jack/Ianto -- how important the relationships are to the story is up to you. No violence or heavy angst, please (including death of hypothetical babies of any species, even handled crackishly). *g*
15. Gen/Adult Humor or Angst or both. Owen discovers Jack's fear of 'spidery mouse things' (refer to deleted scene from S1 ep7) and decides to have some fun at his boss's expense. Can be Gen or J/I slash. Bonus points if we get a scene detailing WHY he has such an aversion to the creatures.
16. Humor, Genderbender. Can be either Jack/Ianto Slash or Gen. Jack gets turned into a woman somehow. Don't really care what the plot is, but I just want to see a scene where John Hart is there and says something like 'I guess we know who the wife is now' about the time Jack is experiencing his first case of PMS and Ianto has to stop Jack from shooting him.
17. Gen/Adult Jack/Ianto or none - Forgiving doesn't mean forgetting, and the Valiant hasn't changed that. He has plenty of reason to be wary of his team -- especially Owen.
18. Adult AU, non con, mortal!Jack, mpreg!Jack - Captain John Hart becomes stranded in an alternate universe. He decides to visit The Boeshane Peninsula on Jack's home world, only to discover that the Jack in this universe is only 17 years old. John kidnappes Jack, and several months later a battered and pregnant Jack ends up in Cardiff, on the run from an obsessed John Hart. Torchwood becomes involved when they hear reports from the local hospital of a pregnant man. Protective!Ianto, fiesty!Jack (I don't want him to be a 'victim'), and pre slash Jack/Ianto would be nice.
19. Gen/Adult Action/Adventure - Jack (and anyone else you wish, including Ocs) I'd love to see a space opera/sci-fi type story set in the 51st century: it can be pre-Torchwood TimeAgent!Jack or post-Torchwood Immortal!Jack or even AU never-met-the-Doctor Jack, other AUs of your choice. I would just love some pew-pew-pew! lasers and aliens and spaceship type story with Jack in it. Doesn't have to have sex but easily can. Caveat: please no post CoE angst/drama, Jack can have totally forgotten the misery of the 21st century, or have come to terms with it or be set before or whatever but I'm not interested in more CoE processing.
20. Jack/Ianto (can be the focus or just a background element) - Either Ianto or Tosh is caught up in a hostage or similar criminal crisis situation -- one that's not remotely under Torchwood's jurisdiction. Bonus points for Kathy Swanson bossing Jack around.
21. "Don't knock it, I'm a citizen!" Citizenship and statelessness. Bonus points for including the Queen.
22. Gen/Adult Humour/Crack: One too many violations and the police takes away Jack's driving license and they don't give it back until he took remedial classes and re-qualified. His team refuses to amend the records because they agree. Can be AU if you want a canon character (Gwen? Rhys? retconned!Ianto? Andy?) to be the driving instructor, and of course Jack would attempt to seduce them. (Author's choice if he succeeds.)
23. Gen/Adult "Dinosaurs? Had 'em for breakfast. Had to, only source of pre-killed food protein after the asteroid crashed." [Quote from Fragments] Basically: how did Jack survive the extinction event?
24. Gen/Adult Jack/Ianto, one-sided: PC Andy/Jack, Katie Swanson/Jack, whoever else you want/Jack. - Fluid gender identity of a 51st century human. Involves: Telepathic aliens who only accept female leaders but know squat about human biology. Joint-liaison between the aliens, Torchwood and the Police. Jack in a pencil skirt suit and sensible heels; Tosh helping him with an understated make-up, Gwen experimenting on styling his hair into a more feminine shape (yup, they're having fun). Katie Swanson doing a double-take every few minutes and then, incongruously, finding herself having girl-talk with Jack and one of the alien leaders during recess; PC Andy developing an embarrassing crush. Even Ianto, who has seen Jack naked and up close more than once, wonders if perhaps he just hadn’t looked close enough. (Jack's "real" gender is up to the author, which is why Het category might apply.)
25. Gen/Adult Year 100 trillion, it is Jack who sent out the message for people to come to Utopia and is waiting for them. What can he do to save the people from the Big Freeze/Big Rip (I think the former fits canon more but the latter is more interesting)? Then the Master comes to harvest the refugees and turn them into Toclafane. Epic war? Or does Jack hide and let the Master turn him into a Toclafane so he could help the humans? (Face of Boe creation story?) Whoever picks this doesn’t have to write the whole thing. Any part of it being written would be fantastic.
26. Gen/Adult Jack/Ianto[can be background], Jack/Nostrovite - Mpreg, AU for Something Borrowed: it is Jack who gets "impregnated" by the Nostrovite. Erm, and he could just kill himself to get it out so think of some other complication as well. :P
27. Jack, Rose, Nine. H/C. Jack gets hurt while traveling with the Doctor, but hides his injury in order to have both the Doctor and Rose not think less of him. This quickly turns into disaster when Jack's injury is more serious then he could have imagined. No pairings, just friendship. No character death.
28. jack/tosh friendship & jack/swanson forced to work together and become friends with a side of mutual respect. ianto included please.
29. would like to see jack/doctor/ianto/donna together in the tardis fic with heavy plot and friendships forged that ends with donna working with jack/ianto in torchwood. tosh/jack friendship included jack makes tosh his second-in-command while away.
30. Gen/Adult Past Jack/Ianto. In the six months between CoE and leaving the planet, Jack walked the Earth for himself, but found that he wasn't ready to jump into another person's bed. What else did he do in that time? (can be a fix-it if the filler wants)
31. Gen/Adult The reason Jack's two years were wiped from his memory are because they involve Gray AND Ianto (optional Gray/Ianto non-con). Bonus if it's also somehow a CoE fix-it
32. Gen/Adult or Slash: Ianto/Jack, Doctor/Jack (Nine or Ten only), or John/Jack - I have to admit I find myself very disturbed by Jack's colleagues' (both the team and the Doctor) blasé attitude at times toward his inability to die / rapid healing. I'd really like to see something where the true horror of the situation is brought to light : could be via body swap(s), or perhaps Jack's been exposed to something that makes his feelings/thoughts accessible to those around him, or whatever.
