Alchemy

The Cain Family fled from Ireland in the early 1840s during the Potato Famine. Initially Cormac Cain, the second son of settles in New York City as did most immigrants, but city life didn’t suit him. Oh a whim he hopped a train south with all of his worldly belongings and didn’t stop moving until he ended up in Louisiana. He ignored the talk of The Swamp Witches as he traveled from Louisiana down into the Bayou, but Swamp witches were exactly what he found there. Incidentally he married one. Yazmina Thibodaux, now Yazmina Cain (whom Mina was named after) was the oldest daughter of an old Cajun family that dated back to some of the first French settlers that tried to work the swamp. The Children of Yazmina and Cormac helped spawn a great magical family graced with the gift of Necromancy, Cormac having married into the one of the Eight Great Families of Witchcraft.

For the most part the Cains kept to themselves, eventually branching out from the Bayou and moving into New Orleans and the times changed. When the fighting began between Lazarus and Harmony, The Necromancers began to get a bad name. This cause tension to rise and animosity to grow between the Cains and the other seven.For decades, even up until The Incident, the Necromancers were naturally distrustful towards their magical brethren and remain so until this day.

Traditions:

If women in the family marry, their husbands take their last name, preserving the name of Cain.

Necromancer Children begin to learn about magic at the age of 4 and while they are not trusted with doing actual spells until they hit puberty, they are already knowledgeable about their history and their abilities.

It is up to the parents to teach their children and sometimes an older sibling is left to mentor their brother or sister in the ways of their kind.

When a Necromancer comes of age a ritual is preformed that allows then to use their magic as they see fit with no restrictions. But the Head has to power to postpone the ceremony until that person proves themselves.

→ Younger Sister(s): Between the ages of 16-20. Up to two sisters. Each can be as diverse as the player wants. Though I do want one who is the black sheep of the family. Think Marilyn Munster from The Munsters.

Between the ages of 16-22-For the brothers, I would like two or three brothers. Specifically I’m very interested in the youngest brother being attached at Mina’s hip since their parents were killed. She has never coddled anyone in her life, but this kid needs it and so the awkward mothering commences.

General Information:

The Necromancers are directly close to anyone, yet there is a certain camaraderie between them and the Enchanters. There is however a hatred that runs deep for the Diveners. Necromancers also do not have to be dark or evil or obsessed with death, as for most things, the characters personality dictates which side of the fence they fall on.

Originally from Italy, the Giambrone family came to America (New York specifically) during the early 1920’s. From the start, they had always tried to keep the peace amongst the eight families and tried to take on a bit more of a leadership role over all of them sometimes as the Magistrate and as the Centurion at different times. It was always, and still is, Abjurations belief that the roles of Magistrate, Centurion and Enforcer should be rotated so that no one or two families became too strong or overly powerful over the other families. Whenever a new Head took control of the Giambrone family, they made it their business to know everyone’s business, whether by getting it strategically straight from the source or poking around the other families business through different channels. The more information about the families, the easier it would be to protect all of them.

Thanks to having a decent relationship with the Divination family, the Larks, the Giambrone’s were able to grow their fortune via the stock market and such. Vincent Giambrone took over as Head of the family at a young age, nearly 25, when his father suffered a stroke and passed away from complications. He was newly married to Daniella, daughter of an Arcane Protector, and newly named CEO of his family's investment firm. It was established early in Vincent's marriage with Daniella, that she would basically be viewed as a trophy wife, meant only to take care of the children, participate in their children's PTA, and host charity events.

Not being considered an equal by her husband and not being magical, Daniella sought control in different ways. One such way was being very controlling over her children's lives, what they ate, who they hung around with, what instruments they would learn, and how well they did in school. How she acted when she was around other families was vastly different from how she acted at home. She was always super friendly and helpful at any social gatherings, which pleased Vincent. Since he traveled often for both magical and non-magical business often, Vincent wasn't fully aware of how controlling and different Daniella was when he wasn't around. If he had known, he might have spent more time at home and less time with his mistresses and traveling.

In spite of remaining close with the Lark's and the Fawkes', Vincent strove to work closely and carefully with all the other families. Not everyone liked the families he'd remained close with, but that shouldn't have been considered when protection was what the prime goal was. He was continually working to try and bring peace, or some semblance of it, to the eight families. No, they would never be as close and well oiled as they had once been, but together they were strongest against all enemies and their forces. Vincent was working towards this up until the day he disappeared.



→Oldest Little Brother: age 23-25. Dante Giambrone is the second child and first son to the current head of the Giambrone family. In his opinion, he should have been named heir to the head of the family as he’s the oldest male child and males are the ones in charge. Mad at the circumstance of his birth, Dante vowed to do anything to become powerful within the families and rule them all. Now that all the families are together, he's finding it easier to watch the families and to try and gather as much information as possible to over throw the heads and become the main ruler.

→ Littletest Brother: age 20-22. Three years his brother’s junior, Luca Giambrone, is quite the opposite. He’s laid back and spends money like its water. Luca has always had the idea in his head that women are to be devoured and spoiled. He’s a lover, not a fighter and definitely not the type of person you’d want to have any sort of real responsibility or control. That’s fine by him, as he’d rather spend his time pursuing pleasure. Family Overview:

The Fawkes family. The Transmuters have always been the most martial and warrior-like of the families, and as such have traditionally had a stricter upbringing. In the past they've often held the position of Enforcer within the conclave, their martial magic and general views about cooperation and neutrality often making them ideal for the role.

Balance, preparedness, discipline, and practicality. Those are the key points they govern themselves by, and it has changed little over their long history. They believe that in-fighting between the magic families is unnecessary, wasteful, and would prefer not to side unless absolutely needed. Cooperation is key to survival, amongst the families but also amongst themselves. They always strive to show a united front to the world, and are notoriously tight-knit within the family. And while their intensity may occasionally be off-putting to some, the skill they show as a result makes them dangerous and valuable allies.

Current Openings:

→ Baby brother: age 17-21. The youngest of the siblings, not very spoiled (because nobody in this family really is), but has big shoes to fill since everyone in the family has done everything first. He wants to prove himself to his siblings, that they can depend on him, which might lead to some mistakes or bad decisions once in a while if he's prone to going off alone to do things.
(Honestly if you have other ideas feel free to change this as long as it lines up with the family upbringing)

(Note on the parents and family in general: Father is a hardcore arcane protector and the mother is the one the transmutation magic comes from (also a dentist). Both are intense martial-focused taskmasters who believe in teaching their children to be capable disciplined planners, but also have high expectations of them.

Their history of holding the Enforcer position has over the years made the family one of the more justice orientated ones, and further pushes them to strive towards neutrality and cooperation. They don't necessarily like everyone, but they're willing to work with them.)

Family Overview:

The Lark family have always seemed a bit sneaky to the other families. Knowledge is a great power, and the Diviners knew how to use it well. Originally, the Lark family hailed from Ireland and had for many, many generations. It wasn't until the youngest of the modern day Larks was a few years old that the family left Ireland to test their abilities in America. At first, they settled in California where they spent quite a few of their years. After the kidnapping and subsequent incident with the Enchantment family, the Lark family cut themselves off from the rest of the families, uprooting their lives in California to go to New York, testing their Divination abilities with the stock market. It was there they made a true fortune - and so the Lark family continued to indulge themselves. Ryan and Siobhan Lark were just as conniving and sneaky as everyone always thought - never using their abilities for true good, though no one could say for certain that they were downright evil, either. Still, their children were their only real redeeming quality.

→ Twin Brother (open): age 26. Keiran Lark is twin brother to Cassidy and younger by just two minutes. Sometimes it frustrates him that she gets to be Head merely because of those two minutes. However, he has the tendency to help with decision making and is very close to his twin. All other personality traits are up to you, and current ones are negotiable!

→ Baby Sister (open): age 16-25. Fiona is the youngest child. She isn't the best at using her abilities, but she is probably the smartest of the Lark family. She disappeared at the same time all the parents did, and it is assumed she was involved in whatever happened. In truth, she went into hiding because she was worried the families getting together would reveal her betrayal to the Enchanter family. Personality traits are negotiable, and she has a story-related plot involving an Abjuration sibling that is pretty involved, please speak to me (jordan: eiectroshocking (aim) or geokientically [at] gmail [dot] com) before apping.
