He laughed at her words and straightened up, already forgetting about why he'd been so close to her to begin with. It looked like tonight was finally beginning to look up.
"D'you want to dance?" He asked, leaning in so that his lips were barely brushing against her ear. Before she got a chance to answer, Alex grabbed her free hand and set his beer - still about a quarter full - on a nearby flat surface and tugged her toward the middle of the room. The room was crowded, making it hard to navigate, and the fact that he was drunk didn't particularly help matters any.
Still, he somehow managed to pull her away from the corner and closer toward the center of the room without too much trouble.
